As someone who has been single for well over 3 years at this point and loving it, I’m a big supporter of embracing life in the city as a single woman! No pandering to partners or forced declarations of love, instead, you get to do exactly what you want, all the time. Honestly, it’s a revelation! I know a lot of other people in their 30s feel the same, yet something about London on Valentine’s Day can really throw a spanner in the works and leave you feeling lonely.
It’s not a day I’ve ever celebrated even when I have been in a relationship, but I’m sick of feeling like it should be avoided too! So this year I say we stop avoiding London on Valentine’s Day just because we chose to be single and instead go out into the city and treat ourselves to the love we deserve! Here are a few ideas I’ve found to help us celebrate:

Do the Harlots, Strumpets and Tarts Valentines Special walking tour
One thing to know about me is that I love a walking tour, especially in London where there is history on every corner! This one transports you back to the steamy underworld of the Georgian sex worker. You meet the women that ‘made it’, and those that ended up in the gutter; the high-class courtesans and the gin-addled streetwalkers; the business-savvy Brothel Madams and the corrupted country girls. Hear the stories of the women that weren’t often given a voice. Eighteenth Century London’s sordid, saucy, and often brutal sex industry is dramatically (and comically) brought to life in this immersive, theatrical experience for Valentines. And when your thirst for lewd women, saucy stories and harrowing histories has been well and truly quenched, finish the experience at a tavern that takes its name from one of the most notorious courtesans of all time – The Nell Gwynne!
Tickets are £15 and are available on Design my Night

Watch Blind Date at The Crystal Maze Experience
I’ve been lucky enough to take part in The Crystal Maze Experience a few times now and it never stops being fun, but they’ve come up with a unique way to spend London on Valentine’s Day. Either watch the other singletons play this take on the hit 90s game show before spending their first date going through the maze, or be really brave and why not enter to be a participant!
Tickets start from £20 from Eventbright

Treat yourself to a solo experience at the Lush Spa
Back in 2016 I ended up spending a solo birthday in London and chose to try The Good Hour treatment at Lush Spa. It turned what could have been a sad day into an incredible one! I left there that day feeling on top of the world, totally relaxed and in tune with myself so this year I am doing something similar. I’m booked in to experience The Sound Bath which I booked via Red Letter Days making it easy to find a date that worked for me, and it’s a great option f you are looking to gift this to a friend! The Sound Bath is an hour of ear candles, face and scalp massage and meditative music that I just know is going to leave me walking away stress-free!
The experience is £80 and can be booked via Red Letter Days
Head To The Free ‘Romance and Doughnuts’ Concert at Wembley Park
Don’t want to splash the cash this Valentine’s Day? Wembley Park is offering a free candle-lit concert by the world-renowned Royal Philarmonic Orchestra who will be joined by Freddie Joon & Clayton to play chat-hitting love songs. Not only this but cult faves Bread Ahead are giving out free hot chocolate and doughnuts, talk about a perfect combo! Why not check out the incredible action-packed musical Newsies nearby while you are in the area?

Catch &Juliet Before It Goes Away From The West End
It’s no secret that &Juliet is one of my favourite musicals currently on in London but it is sadly leaving very soon! This show is perfect for London on Valentine’s Day as it takes what is possibly one of the most well-known love stories of all time and turns it on its head! Filled with pop songs about powerful women and the importance of friendship, this is a great show if you want to feel uplifted!
Tickets start from £25 from the London Theatre Direct website
London on Valentine’s Day is honestly a great option however you chose to spend it, but hopefully, this has given you some inspiration on how to spend your day as a single person. The key I just to treat yourself and celebrate you and the love you have for yourself and your friendships! Any other ideas? Drop me them in the comments below!
