I love language, especially colloquialisms and as a result I have for a long time, been somewhat obsessed with song lyrics and quotes. Books, songs, poetry, off hand remarks, speech and more rarely for me, film and TV quotes. They strike a note with me deep inside, some stick with me, some are fleeting, some are silly, some are serious, some I’ve liked for a long time some I’ve just found. With this in mind I’m going to start a series of these uses of language that I love. Kicking off with a strange one:
As the blood flowed from her head-wound,
Right down into those golden little curls,
Then it struck him, his wish was granted,
He finally had a redheaded girl
Its a strange starting quote because it doesn’t have any deep meaning, it’s not something I’ve loved for a long time, I literally saw it on my friends Facebook last week and loved it. Turns out it’s a song lyric from the song redhead by Blanche. If you want to listen to it you can check it out here:
