There are some phrases that are over used in blogging and ‘wonder product‘ is definitely up there. Personally it’s one I have never used on my blog – until now!
Cast your mind back to a few months ago when I attended the Paul Mitchel event: you might recall that James from New CID Cosmetics did my makeup and it looked incredible, even if I do say so myself. Well after the event Sarah kindly asked me if I wanted to pick a couple of products to try for myself at home.
Now I did take a while choosing what I wanted because I loved so many of the products used on me and it took me the longest time to remember the name of this product. I finally figured out what it was that I chose: this and the primer (a review of which is coming soon too!). I would also have chosen the foundation if I could remember what shade I was because I loved the coverage.
When I used this i-glow in Sirocco my skin was glowing and I remembered James saying that this is the product that all the brides and models just adore for exactly this reason. There are 3 i-glow shades: Ice Pop, Sirocco and Coral Crush. New CID describes the i-glow products as follows:
These marbelised glow powders are the perfect ‘pick me up’ for the skin. Using our famous baked formulation for easy, silky smooth application, i – glow has light reflective pigments for mimicking your skin’s natural radiance. Some of the shades make really lovely blushers as well.
I was a little hesitant about applying it myself as because of the colour I was paranoid that it might apply like a bronzer – and bronzer terrifies me (I always picture bad 90’s chav style foundation lines). However my fears were totally unfounded, despite its brown tones, it doesn’t tint the skin in any way. Instead, it adds a gorgeous shimmery highlight the likes I have never seen before.
Now, I am a fan huge of highlighters, on the borderline of obsessive, but before now my general concensus for them fell into two categories. I have my white foundations that I use to highlight under my brownbone (generally Illamasqua cream foundation in 000 or Manic Panic in Goth White if I’m traveling) and then a shimmer highlight for my cheek bones etc (I use Benefit High Beam for winter and Illamasqua’s Gleam in Summer). However, this i-glow shade adds a whole new dimension to my highlighting routine. It adds a golden shimmer that once applied just makes your skin glow and look so healthy!
Despite being a powder it doesn’t dry my skin when applied (something I often worry about with powders) and can be used practically everywhere. When I first got it I couldn’t remember where to put it so I put if all over my face and it looked fine, I have since realised that less is more and it looks it’s best when placed on top of my cheek bones (slightly higher than my blush). It also looks fabulous when used on your collar bone or cleavage and practically anywhere to really enhance a tan. It works with any skin tone and it can even be used as an eyeshadow!
Now there is one thing in this product that really concerned me: Glitter! I absolutly hate face products with visible glitter. I didn’t notice this in the actual product at first but when viewed up close on the skin, fine gold glitter can be seen. But honestly, it’s not that noticeable and I can definatly live with it. It is one of the things that gave me the idea to just use it on the cheeks though so it doesn’t look too OTT!
I don’t think I can fully express how much I love this product Go buy it and give it a try!
