Lightopia Festival first came to London in 2019 and has returned this year to its new home at Crystal Palace Park to bring its magical and unique light trial to South London.

This festival of lights has many themed light installations as you wind your way through the 1.5km trail. From Magical Animals to the Christmas Zone to a stunningly large Pheonix created entirely from light, some have to be seen to be believed. Of course with this being in Crystal Palace Park the organisers couldn’t miss out on making the most of the parks unique history, with a recreation of the devastating and infamous crystal palace fire in 1936 as well as making the most of the parks most famous residents, the Crystal Palace Dinosaurs, by bringing them to life with lights and animatronics. These lights aren’t just static displays, there are water shows, interactive lanterns, colourful lasers, and much more that give this trial of lights a truly magical feel.

Lightopia Festival is London’s biggest Christmas light display (although only a small percentage of the lights are specifically Christmas-themed) and you can expect to spend a good hour or two exploring the light trial with your friends or family. If you are looking to find food there are plenty of stalls along the route offering a large range of food, drink, and other treats to make you happy along the way. There’s even a selection of fairground rides near the start of the trial for added fun (available at extra cost).

Tickets to the Lightopia Festival at Crystal Palace Park start from £19.50 for adults and £13 for children (peak time prices apply) and can be booked directly through the Lightopa Festival website.
