Planning a Perfect Staycation with Swindon Caravan Centre | AD

July 23, 2020

As I’ve mentioned in my Kent Wish List post, staycations are going to be the where it’s at for the foreseeable future.  I’ve gained so much travel inspiration over the last few weeks by looking closer to home and taking in the stunning places we have here in the UK.

A caravan driving though the countryside, a reality when buying from Swindon Caravan Centre

As well as looking at the South Coast for inspiration I’ve also started a Yorkshire to-do list, as I’m moving back there for a few months while my office remains closed.  I’ve been eyeing up the Yorkshire Dales as a place I’d love to explore, and then, of course, there’s the North Coast 500 in Scotland which I’ve been dreaming about for a few years now…

One thing that I keep coming back to with these dream trips though is the need for flexible accommodation and transportation.  My Fiat 500 isn’t the best car for long trips and I hate camping if I’m not at a festival.  Hotels are expensive and not the safest option in the current environment and it makes your plans more rigid.  This has got me dreaming of a good old fashioned caravan trip!

Caravans aren’t something that I had really given much thought to until I took a trip to Stratford Upon Avon in one last summer with my family and I loved it!  The sound of the rain on the roof, the freedom to drive wherever you wanted, the comfort of having your own belongings with you…it’s a dream! My parents have just bought a new caravan and being on their fourth model they know much more about caravanning than me. So this week I gave into my staycation dreams and took a look at the Swindon Caravan Centre website to eye up my dream model.

Car and caravan in the countryside

One of the brands Swindon Caravan Centre sell is Bailey of Bristol who use their Alu-Tech technology to create the body of their vehicles. Swindon Caravan Centre specialises in this brand amongst their excellent range of caravans and motorhomes. They have both new and preowned Bailey units available, alongside other brands such as Autosleeper and Swift. So there are plenty of choices.

Caravans and motorhomes are super-popular at the moment due to COVID-19, as you can enjoy a socially distanced holiday in your own self contained surroundings. And thankfully the Swindon Caravan Centre have added lots of different ways to make their site as safe as possible for when you want to take a look at their stock. To find out what to expect when you visit Swindon Caravan Centre and what social distancing measures they have in place, visit their website. If you want more details of the current Bailey caravans and motorhomes, you can check out the Virtual Showrooms on the Bailey of Bristol website, where you can find 360º tours of all the current ranges.

A couple relaxing next to their caravan, a possibility with Swindon Caravan Centre

For more information on how the caravan and motorhome industry is managing social distancing, staycation inspiration and advice for beginners, visit the news and events section of the Bailey website.

Before you jump in to hunt out a caravan make sure you check out the retailers’ website or social pages so you can see how they are operating during this new time.  Have you been dreaming of a caravan staycation lately?
