Swinging Among the Trees at Go Ape, Sherwood Pines

June 29, 2021

Kariss at the Go Ape sign at Sherwood Pines

If you follow me on Instagram you may have noticed I have been getting a lot more adventurous as the UK slowly starts to open up once more.  I’ve discovered a new-found love for hiking and I’ve been really pushing myself to try new things.  So when the people at Go Ape Sherwood Pines reached out to see if I wanted to try out their Treetop Adventure I knew I had to take on the challenge.

As it was near Father’s Day I decided to bring my Dad with me, at 60 he’s still confident he can do almost anything so I thought it was time to put him to the test, and this course sure does that.  I’d tried a Go Ape location before in the Lake District but this was the first time for Dad.  This course allows you to climb, swing, and zip through the trees of this stunning forest and really feel like you are one with nature.  It is a fine line between feeling safe and having an adrenalin fulled adventure and Go Ape really knows how to walk this line  Despite the heights, I felt completely safe due to our Activity Assistant Curtis was amazingly friendly and thorough in our training on all the equipment.  By the time we were ready to take on the course, we felt confident and excited to take on the challenge ahead.

The course takes you high amongst the thick 100-year-old pines as you climb, swing, balance, and jump across high wires, rope bridges, gorilla nets, Tarzan swings, zip wires, and more on this challenging course.  The course is 9 meters off the ground at its highest and it ends with two 140 meter tandem zip wires which can hit speeds of up to 20 miles per hour!  What a great way to end a trip amongst the trees.  However it’s not as scary as it may seem, the challenges build up gradually, and before you know it you are taking on the hights with relative ease.

Throughout there are multiple routes around of different difficulties so you can decide just how much of a challenge you want to take on, and this gives it great replayability as you could come back several times taking a different route each time. This adventure takes on average 2-3 hours to complete and tickets are £34 per adult, it’s a great adventure to try with a group of friends.  If you want more there are plenty more things to do at Go Ape Sherwood Pines including the Treetop Adventure for younger Children, Treetop Adventure Plus for children who like more of a challenge, and the Forest Segway where you can go off-roading on your two-wheeled vehicle through the forest.  lastly, there is Nets Adventure, a totally unique zone that consists of treehouses, netted walkways, and bouncy nets full of inflatable balls, all 30 feet off the air!  So there’s plenty to keep you entertained at Go Ape Sherwood Pines.

Have you ever tried one of the Go Ape locations?
