With travel becoming a realistic possibility once again I’ve been daydreaming about taking another trip to the big apple… I visited New York for the first time in the Winter of 2017 and instantly fell in love with the place. Our five-day trip allowed us to take in the highlights of the city but as magical as this was in Winter (we actually visited during Thanksgiving which was an amazing experience and I had my first ever Thanksgiving meal) I’d love to see the city in the warmer days and brighter evenings of Spring. As our trip to New York was so short last time and the daylight hours were so limited there were many things we missed out on. Here are a few places that would be on the top of my must-see list when visiting New York in Spring.

Central Park
Central Park is one of the most iconic places in New York City and I did see a tiny section of it on my last visit but sadly due to the fading daylight, I didn’t get to see much. When visiting New York in Spring Central Park would be top of my list as it is the perfect season to take advantage of the bike rentals to ride through the park as well as take a trip on its iconic boating lake.
Price: Free, bike rentals start from $15, rowboats from $20 an hour

Walk The Highline
This amazing stretch of raised repurposed walkway created from a disused railway line is something I’ve been daydreaming about walking along for a good while. I’d love to take a relaxed stroll along this greenery lined promenade, taking in the amazing views and atmosphere of the city, and maybe stopping for a bagel on route.

Brooklyn Botanical Garden
A must visit for New York in Spring is the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens which are famed for their expansive cheery blossoms which come out in striking vibrance at this time every year. I have a real affinity for cheery blossoms as seeing them always makes me feel like the dark, cold days of winter of behind and the excitement of Spring can begin! The images of this place at the height of cherry blossom season do truly look magical!
Price: $18

New York Botanical Garden
While on the subject of Spring flower, the New York Botanical Garden has its own offerings that spring (pardon the pun) into life as this time of year. The place comes alive with Cherry trees and daffodils but the real draw is the orchid show which fills the place with stunning, vibrant colours.
Price: $30

Visit Elis Island
I didn’t get a chance to visit Elis Island on my last trip but the history of this ex-immigration centre is truly the history of New York. It’s certainly worth visiting in Spring so you can make the most of the ferry ride over to the island and take your time exploring the museum.
Price: Free entry to the island and museum, ferry price is $23.50 or it is included in many of the New York City Tourist Passes

Visit Coney Island
Having only seen Coney Island on tv shows from the outside it looks kind of like a colourful fever dream. I’ve always wanted to make the trip over and what better time than Spring to make the most of getting on the iconic rides at Luna Park and its famous fairground foods. Of course, there’s also the beach for those really hot days.
Price: Free with extra costs for rides etc

Take in a parade
Hey what can I say, I’m a Disney kid at heart so I can’t help but love a parade! The Easter Parade and St Patrick’s Day Parade which both occur in New York City in Spring are both iconic and are an experience I would just love to have to watch or take part in!
Price: free
A New York City in Spring trip is pretty high on my ‘to visit’ list for the next 12 months, I’m really just so incredibly eager to get out and experience the world again! Let me know what is the top of your must-visit list in New York.
