15 Iconic Disney World Foods I’ll be Ordering on my Next Trip

In some ways, travel and theme parks seem like a distant memory at the moment, but things are starting to open up.  Walt Disney World is due to reopen at a largely reduced capacity in just a couple of weeks time with Disneyland Paris reopening around the same time.   Shanghai Disneyland reopened in May with Hong Kong Disneyland not long after and Tokyo‘s Disney Parks reopening just this week.  I was supposed to be revisiting next year with my whole family to celebrate my mothers 60th birthday but it’s now looking like that will be pushed into 2022 as there are currently no Disney tickets being sold (it’s reopening for season pass holders only and you have to pre-book) and there are other restrictions such as no character meet and greets, parades or fireworks etc.  We don’t want to take such a big family trip in such restricted times (and wearing a facemask in the Florida heat also doesn’t sound fun!) so it will likely be a delayed visit.  However, this hasn’t stopped me dreaming about all the delicious foods I’ll be eating on my next trip!  Disney is a food lovers dream, with amazing eats from around the world, Instagramable delights and classic snacks that have been around since opening day.  Here are the iconic Disney World foods I can’t wait to order on my next visit:

Blaze Pizza

You might recognise the name of this eatery from my Disney World’s Best Quick Serve Restaurant’s post and truth be told, it’s still easily one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had and I think about it way more then I should.  Think of a subway-style restaurant, but for pizza!  As you go down the pizza bar you add whatever toppings you like from their fantastic collection of meats, vegetables, cheeses, and sauces, and the pizza is then cooked in front of you in a stone-fired oven.  Truly delicious!

Dole Whip float

Can you even have an Iconic Disney World Foods post without including the Dole whip float?  It is quite possibly the most iconic Disney World snack of all time!  This is a treat that has been around for a really long time and yet I somehow remained unaware of it until the social media age.  It’s a simple combination, soft-serve pineapple ice cream, fresh Dole pineapple juice and a spoon/straw!  There are other flavours available and you can even add alcohol but usually, when people talk about Dole whip floats its this classic combo that they are referring to.  In the Florida heat, this refreshing treat just can’t be beaten!

Where to find it: Aloha Isle, Adventureland, Magic Kingdom and Tamu Tamu Refreshments, Africa, Animal Kingdom.  Appears seasonally at Epcot and other locations.

Mickey’s Premium Ice Cream Sandwich

I don’t know what it is with the US Disney Parks and having the word ‘premium’ in their iced treats but this one of no exception.  You will find these sweet treats everywhere throughout the parks at the ice cream and drinks carts.  Rather controversially I think this ice cream sandwich (which is a classic combination of soft chocolate cookies and cookies and cream ice cream in the shape of Mickey’s face) is much better than the often talked about Mickey Premium Bar (ice cream covered in chocolate in a mickey head shape).  It’s much tastier, cuter, and far less messy than its popular cousin in my opinion!

Kitchen Sink

Over at the Beaches and Creme Soda Shop in Disney’s Beach Club Resort you will find a dessert of epic proportions.  This has been on my wish list for a while.  We were going to try it on our last family trip in 2012 but never found the time, and you need to bring your family with you as this desert is quite a feat!  Served, of course, in a kitchen sink it includes multiple scoops of every flavour of ice cream they have, topped off with every topping they serve and finalised with a whole can of whip creme.  You’ll defiantly want to come hungry to this one.

Lefou’s Brew

This might possibly be my favourite drink of Disney property.  Served in the perfect setting of Gaston’s Tavern this sweet drink is based on frozen apple juice with a hint of toasted marshmallow-topped off with passion fruit foam it is seriously delicious!  You can even get it in a souvenir stein or goblet if you want a reminder to bring home.

Warm cinnamon roll

Now everyone loves a cinnamon roll but the ones they sell at Disney World…they are something else!  They are available throughout the park but the best, in my opinion, are the ones sold at Gaston’s Tavern, the same place you can get the above drink.  They are huge, easily sharable between a few people, fresh, sweet, spiced and dripping in maple flavoured icing.  It’s a total dream and a welcome entry to the iconic Disney World foods list!

Minute Maid Light Pomegranate Lemonade

This might seem like a strange choice but I discovered this refreshing drink on my last Disney World trip and fell in love with it.  It’s available at almost all outlets that have a soda fountain throughout the park but the real kicker is, it’s not available outside of Walt Disney World!  It’s the perfect refreshing drink for the humid Florida sun.

The Grey Stuff

A new entry to the iconic Disney World Foods list is The Grey Stuff.  It was made famous from Beauty and the Beast animated classic and is a delicious whipped cookies and cream flavoured creamy moose like dessert that is kind of hard to describe, and its recipe is top secret.  It comes as the topping on a cupcake, on top of shortbread, or just on its own and is usually topped off with edible pearls.

Cheshire Cat Tail

This is one I am yet to try but I have heard so many good things it just had to appear on this iconic Disney World foods list.  It’s a braided pastry with a chocolate filling topped off with icing in the Cheshire Cat’s signature purple and pink colours and added chocolate chips.  It’s the only food they sell at the Cheshire Cafe so you know they must be good.

Candian Cheddar Cheese Soup

This dish is a speciality of the famous Le Cellier Steakhouse in the Candian Pavilion in Epcot which has garnered quite the reputation among foodies as being one of the best places to eat on site.  During my last visit to Disney World, we were on the dining plan so I took the opportunity to try out a solo dining experience in the restaurant and try this famous dish alongside one of their just steaks.  It’s so creamy and delicious, it’s defiantly worth a visit if you manage to get a reservation in this popular restaurant.  It also does sometimes make an appearance at the food booth near the restaurant so if you can’t get a reservation it’s worth checking there, especially during the Epcot Food and Wine Festival.

Werther’s Original Caramel Popcorn

This fresh caramel popcorn has built up white a cult following, largely due to Carlye Wisel’s constant raving about just how delicious this sweet treat is.  The Wether’s Original Caramel seems to be the thing that really makes this caramel popcorn extra special, best served hot and fresh!

Mickey waffles

Mickey Waffles are a Disney World classic.  The cute Mickey face can be found in various places throughout the Disney World report and they go with pretty much everything!  They are usually a staple at buffet breakfasts throughout the parks so that is usually the best bet to get your hands on them.

Peanut Butter and Jelly Milkshake

The 50’s Prime Time Cafe is a unique restaurant on Disney property.  It’s a 50’s themed dinner like no other, based around a traditional 1950’s family meal is decorated as if you are in a typical 11950’s home.  The staff have various roles as members of your family, expect your new mom, cousins and aunts to tell you off for not finishing your leftovers, not setting the table up for dinner or having your elbows on the table.  It’s a unique dining experience for sure and the food is as delightfully old fashioned as the decor, which is where this ‘shake comes in.  The Peanut Butter and Jelly Milkshake is a sure hit here, it’s super sweet and luxurious and just has to be tasted to be believed.

Blue Milk

Like most people when I heard that Star War’s Galaxy’s Edge was opening at Walt Disney World one of the things I was excited for as well as the world-class theming and amazing rides was trying the famous Star War’s treat’s that had only existed in my imagination before this point.  The most highly hyped one of these, of course, is Blue milk.  Both blue and green milk are actually available at Galaxy’s Edge but for me, it’s blue milk that is the must-try.  From the reviews I’ve seen it seems although this is a love it or hate it beverage, it’s made with coconut and rice milk with added fruity flavours and you can also try it frozen.

Poutine

The Daily Poutine in Disney Springs serves up a variety of different versions of this Candian classic all as delicious as the last.  I’m going to stick with the classic on this version, chips, cheese curds and gravy.  It can’t be beaten!  Take a seat overlooking the lake as you enjoy this savoury snack.
